Daphni - Jiaolong
Jiaolong may well find a place alongside some ambient microtonal drone cassette in Wire’s end of year list, but this isn’t an academic exercise, this is firmly for the floor.»

when canadian artist dan snaith travelled the world dj'ing as caribou, he was bitten once again by the dancefloor bug. now one of electronica's favoured prodigies, snaith travels deeper into hypnotic dance music with his debut album as daphni.breaking free from previous parameters, snaith has forged a sensual and intensely fun dancefloor language out of instinctive grooves and lush, homemade synthesizers. in common with the rest of his catalogue, however, snaiths modus operandi here is restless and endlessly inventive - always refusing to do the obvious.
an homage to the sweat-drenched moments of collective euphoria found in the club, this poem to decadent liberation easily ranks as some of snaiths best work. summarising 30 years of house music has never sounded so rich and liberating.
