Heterotic is the duo of Planet Mu boss Mike Padainas (m-ziq) and his wife, Lara Rix-Martin. What proceeds is a dreamy, blissed out record steeped in electronicas past, a healthy shot of warped shoegaze gauze and the dynamics and space of modern dance music. 4 tracks on the record are a collaboration with Warp artist Gravenhurst, who lends his dark drawl to the music. There's a delicious tension through-out the record between synthesized optimism and an opiated darkness that is never quite dispelled, even by the uptempo tracks that flit and crack like the best of Paradinas' work.
