Society - All That We've Become
A hard one to pin down»

Society are 24 year old singer Jamie Gridler, and producer Brendan Lynch. The duo's sound drawing comparisons to Portishead, The Verve to David Axelrod, Lee Hazlewood, Danger Mouse, plus drawing influence from hip hop beatsmith J.Dilla. Each track is a golden pop nugget - epic, soulful and timeless. These enormous soundscapes come from a collaboration between ace producer Brendan Lynch and a remarkable singer / songwriter called Jamie Girdler - a man whose last band, Beggars, in which he shared frontman duties with brother Justin, were all set to make it big until Guy Hands bought EMI and promptly, foolishly, pulled the plug on their unreleased album, (although not before a couple of singles had leaked out on Heavenly, garnering much acclaim). Now Jamie gets another crack at showing off his talents on an album that matches swirling retro arrangements of Old Testament proportions with his effortless, astringent vocals. Give it a listen - it's been years in the making but was well worth the wait.
