God Love You For a Liar (formerly Plastik)

Some people on DiS hate this band whilst others love them. This is obviously a very good thing because getting any reaction when you're an unsigned band trying to get media attention is better than total indifference. Luckily for Plastik I fall in the 'love' camp so that's a double bonus.

The lead track here is pure glamtrashrock, all squeely guitar lines and theatrically pained camp indie boy vocals. Even the guitar chords are stabbed so hard you expect them to bleed. Second track, 'Bravado', smooths everything out a bit. Still rocking like a mutant hybrid of Suede, Muse, Placebo and **My Sharona** thanks to the drumming. The guitar solo is a bit The Darkness though. Final track, the cunningly titled 'Art Fcuker', shows somewhat of a change in direction though. Trademark vocals aside this is most reminiscent of Elastica, '2:1' in particular. Maybe that's a nod to the subject content, Hoxtonite mullet morons beware.

So in summary, a fcuking good three track CD. It's about time someone picked this lot up and gave them the exposure they deserve.
