Based in Leeds, these guys are clearly big lovers of post-rock and the Icelandic music scene. However, this is no homage, this is no rip-off, this is the seed of something beautiful sprouting deep roots, and getting ready to gestate and mutate into something awesome. Though this demo still sees 3K:7 as a kid taking those first tentative steps, it is packed with potential and wonder… laden with what mediocre paid journalists refer to as “the X factor”.

This four track demo is an instrumental soundtrack to all the highs and lows in your life. Some incredibly fine washes of sound, space, and scope lay side by side with a poignant frailty which has been captured expertly, although I know that the 3K:7 experience is even more incredible live. Subtlety follows abruptness, explosions follow meanders.

The band exist both organically and electronically, displaying diversity and opening many creative doors. Contrast: not disrupting but rather complimenting. Questions are asked, answers reciprocated. And throughout, there’s that very human poignancy.

This demo is outstanding, not merely for what it is, but more for inferring what one day the band will become. Watch this unfold, it will be huge. For now, though, this will be more than enough to hypnotise. The mountainous, mesmeric, tick-tocking of a world stood still.
