Mother Goose

Village

Label: Seriously Groovy Release Date: 11/12/2000

jmoore by James Moore March 10th, 2001

Another release from those Finnish Freaks

They may well be freaks but you can't help but love them. Another glorious release from Helsinki's… if not the World's finest artnoise band. Mother Goose are at their most laid back on the title-track 'Village', a delicate and fragile droning slowcore number, that’ll stay in your head for months. The tempo then steps up a couple gears and the band deliver their finest tune to date 'Mozart', well "tune" is debatable, it’s a fast 'n' furious Sonic Youth-esque freeform racket, which begs the question "Why haven't MG received as much attention as Trail Of Dead?". They then follow that up with their uniquely beautiful and quirky Christmas anthem, 'Born Kind, Christmas Time' complete with jingle bells. What more could you wish for?
