Haven

Til The End

Label: Radiate Release Date: 22/04/2002

jwestfox by James Westfox April 30th, 2002

So dear old Haven, a ‘proper‘ indie band, are re-releasing their debut single and finest moment in a futile bid for chart supremacy.

Of course it's a sad reflection of record company politics, but 'Til The End' is probably the best of Haven's five good songs, and deserves to have them shaking their uncouth hair on Top Of The Pops.

A classic example of a soaring indie rock tune, Gary Briggs' tenderly powerful vocals are what take this song above yer normal Camden bred indie fodder. He has a genuinely affecting voice, and when it's not singing the kind of dull acoustic waste of time that blighted 'Between The Senses', it has the ability to draw you into a song and not let you go until it's finished.

All Haven need to do now is build on the success that this fine single will undoubtedly give them, and come up with a 'Bends' of a 2nd album.
