Antonia

Ride The Bullet

Label: Ben Popp Records Release Date: 17/06/2002

shadyadie by [redacted] June 10th, 2002

It pops and it rocks. “We’re just a poprock band,” she announced onstage one night. Like, no pigeonhole for the New Mexico-born singer/songwriter – Antonia simply writes great songs with great, big, radio-friendly choruses, and you can’t help but love it all.

‘Ride The Bullet’ blends in some spiky guitars into this super powerpop song which will GET IN YOUR HEAD. Oh yes it will. So unless you are a postrock bore or own every single record ever released on Warp, you will love this. The hidden gem is ‘Reservoir’, tucked away as the third track, and is a lovely ballad with string section provided by Joe from Goldrush.

Factoids: Antonia self-released records and toured with southwestern states in “a dodgy converted school bus” (rock ‘n’ roll!), has played with Cheap Trick, The Cult, and appeared on VH1’s ‘Band On The Run’ as well as Play UK’s ‘Nu Music’ (the one that Mani presents). Expect appearances at Guildford and Truck festivals this year. Oh yeah, last factoid: she is a star in the making and totally fucking rocks. RARRR!!!

Out now via Ben Popp Records / Shellshock Distribution. Go get some.
