Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Machine

Label: Wichita Release Date: 04/11/2002

2671
-Raz- by Raziq Rauf November 1st, 2002

Categorical malevolence performed with the distinction of a figure that will retain her image of being a lady while still murdering any reservations you have of calling her an nihilist.

Where, with ‘Bang’ you had all this, we find it sadly absent in ‘Machine’. The vigour, verve and sheer dynamism just overwhelmed me but six months ago. Now? Now I hear a woman struggling. Where is her fight? Her screams have become yelps and it seems a sorry sight in my mind. *Karen O *sounds like Blondie. Post-reunion. There’s a difference between being organic and just trying to sound scuzzy just for the sake of being the same as all the rest but I fear that this has gone unrealised here.

It should make me feel as vital as it made her.

This _isn’t _vital.
