Bluesky Research

Fittest Of The Fittest

Label: Regal Release Date: 30/10/2006

18134
lsteinberg by Lianne Steinberg November 8th, 2006

Bluesky Research are so retro their tan cords probably bear the stains from several nights dominating the local pub circuit. Aside from the god-awful name - one that should really remain in the verbal realms of marketing executives - the production on 'Fittest Of The Fittest' is so sleek, over ringing guitars and processed harmonies, that any balls has been edited out.

With its punchy riff and sun-swept harmonies, b-side 'Good Fight' should have been the lead track; there's some disarming honesty when they declare, "The sounds I hear are not my own". The melody is a fantastic approximation of their classic rock influences but the DNA strand that makes Bluesky Research special has already mutated in favour of cloning.
