Someone told me that Venomous Concept sound like Poison Idea. Hmm... Venomous Concept... Poison Idea... yeah, I guess so. Not that I've the foggiest about Posion Idea, mind; all I know is that 'Retroactive Abortion' punkrocks in an unashamedly old-school way. That's, like, hardcore, or something.
To cut to the chase, this is blink-of-an-eye fast, louder than a rave inside a cement mixer, and as raw as a two-day-old carpet burn. If you consider those to be core components of any worthwhile punk record, then these guys - members past and present of bands such as The Melvins and Napalm Death - are for you. If you, like me, are scared of old men screaming a lot, on every single track (choice cut: 'Idiot Parade'), then you'd best stick to your pussy ass Blood Brothers records. That's where I'm going now, back to the safety of campcore. This, friends, is just too hardcore for my scaredy cat ears.
Aaah, what the hell, it's got a huge skull on the cover! Buy it and make your mum think you're a bad-ass.
