Get involved with DiS!
Get involved with DiS!
crablin by Colin Roberts April 3rd, 2006

We're looking for new writers, profiles staff and bloggers.

Do you harbour a burning passion for music? Do you feel that you've something fresh and exciting to contribute to Drowned in Sound? We're looking for new people to come aboard as we expand and move forward to new horizons.

All positions are unpaid, but do of course come with a few benefits (CDs, tickets and the 'respect' of your contemporaries being but three).

I have to stress at this point that if you don't fit into one of the below categories, we're currently unable to accomodate you into the team, but thank you for your interest.

Please send three examples of your work, with at least one album review and one live review to: editor [at] drownedinsound [dot] com - PLEASE mark the subject line with the position you are interested in. If you don't get a reply, please don't be insulted - as you can imagine, these things are rather popular!

Electronic/Dance contributors
We're looking to extend our coverage of IDM/House/Techno etc. and are looking for writers who take a keen interest in the worlds of ADAADAT, Playhouse, electroclash and everything that comes with it. If you're a regular listener to everything from Jimmy Edgar and Isolee through to Dev Remix, Germlin and more, then please apply!

Heavy Rock/Metal contributors
Regular readers of the site will be fully aware that Raziq Rauf pretty much heads up the 'heavy' side of DiS, but we're looking for one or two people to work beside him and ensure we're covering all the important releases from Roadrunner and its ilk. Applicants should have a decent grasp of commercial metal (of a Kerrang! style), through to underground movements and your local scene.

Rap & hip-hop contributors
If your passion for lyrics and beats extends beyond Nelly, then we'd love to hear from you. An intricate knowledge of the timeline of hip-hop isn't entirely necessary, but a good grasp of both old-skool friendly jams (Jurassic 5, Beastie Boys, Ugly Duckling) and newer underground works from MF Doom, Edan and the like would be fantastic.

Profile contributors
Despite being one of the most dauntingly comprehensive databases of bands an artists on the internet, there's always going to be gaps and things missing. If you enjoy researching and writing short band biographies as well as adding bands suggested by readers and submissions from unsigned talent, this is the post for you.

Live contributors
If you live in any of the following areas, we'd be interested to hear from you with regard to live reviews of any genre:
Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Canada, Birmingham and the United States.
It is essential that you spend time at local band shows and on your local scene as well as attending larger national tours when they come to town.

E-content blog contributors
DiS is soon to launch our downloads section in the form of a weblog, enabling people to quickly skim the latest videos and audio from the big labels, as well as an as-always healthy selection of emerging artists. If you've an insatiable thirst for discovering new music and spend your days looking for another secret to tell the world, this position is waiting for you. You'll also be expected to add one or two links a week that are passed on you via e-mail.

At this point, we're currently not looking for writers to review indie/rock albums. We look forward to hearing from you and reading your submissions.
