The worst of the worst: The Naomis run down
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver February 9th, 2005
The Naomis celebrate all that is wrong in pop music; the devil to the Brits' angel, if you will. Named after model Naomi Campbell's shocking pop 'career', the awards are given to the very worst of the worst, and winners were announced yesterday. Here's the run down:

Worst British Group - Blue
Worst British Male - Jamie Cullum
Worst British Female - Rachel Stevens
Worst British Single - I Believe My Heart by Duncan James and Keedie
Worst British Album - The Meaning of Love by Michelle McManus
Worst International Male - Brian McFadden
Worst International Female - Nadia
Worst International Group - Westlife
Worst International Album - The Long Road Back by Peter Andre
Worst International Breakthrough - DJ Casper
Worst British Breakthrough Act - McFly
Worst British Attempt at Rock - Busted
Worst Pop Act - Sam and Mark
Worst Live Act - Pete Doherty
Least Convincing 'Urban' Act - Blazin' Squad
Outstandingly Bad Contribution to Music - Louis Walsh

The Brits take place tomorrow at Earl's Court. Today's Brits news is that Robbie Williams, who is due to perform 'Angels' at the awards, doesn't want Pete Doherty turning up and stripping him of the limelight. Tough titty, Williams.

NEWSFLASH: The above might not quite be true. Williams' lawyers have been on to the red-top rag that originally published the Williams vs Doherty story, and they're not happy.

The paper is guilty, apparently, of "grossly offensive and defamatory allegations against Robbie Williams [which] are completely untrue".

A statement reads: "Our client has not sought to have Pete Doherty removed from the guest list or banned from attending the Brit awards. He has made no threat not to appear or perform.

"He has not sought to impose any conditions concerning Pete Doherty. Our client is not unsympathetic in his attitude to any problems Pete Doherty has with drug or alcohol addiction."
