Thumbs down, I'm afraid Mr Hawkins: you're out. Albeit of your own accord.
Justin Hawkins has quit The Darkness. He told his bandmates last night (October 10), confessing that he'd been consuming £1,000-worth of cocaine a week for the last three years.
It's believed that the remaining trio will carry on without Hawkins. The singer told popular red-top The Sun:
“I feel bad for the others. It will be an upheaval. But it’s time for me to move on. It would be damaging for my recovery to stay on. I’m not blaming the band for my problem – I am an addict. There are people who can stay in bands and stay clean, but I’m not one of them.”
Hawkins plans to record a solo record in the future.
