Glasto 2009: Tickets on sale soon
Jane-O by Jane Oriel September 5th, 2008
With wellies still steaming and tents far too 'icky' to clean properly after this year's more-rainy-than-not festival season, it's already time to start thinking about Glastonbury 2009, and surprise surprise, they've had a re-think on the ticketing regime.

Registration for next year is now open and - take notice people - the tickets go on sale October 5. That's right; in one month's time, at 9am Monday October 5, to be precise.

The cost is £175 (plus a booking fee of £5) but you don't have to cough it all up in one go as a deposit of £50 will do the business until February 1st next year.

Providing all your party of friends and family are also registered, they are, for the first time under this new scheme, allowing you to buy or reserve up to six tickets in one transaction. We think this is a brilliant development as it reduces the chance of disappointing scenario where you get tickets in the spring scrum, but your wannabe travelling mates don't. Nice one Mr Eavis, sir.

Go here to register for the Britain's biggest outdoor music festival that next year runs for five days from Wednesday, June 24 until Sunday, June 28, across 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset.

Speaking on the Festival website, Michael Eavis says,

”We have come up with a scheme that will allow people a much longer period to plan and pay for their tickets, while still continuing the battle against ticket touting. By paying as little as £50 up front this year, Festival-goers from all over the world will be able to guarantee a ticket for next year’s event. At the same time the very successful registration scheme will ensure that tickets will only go to those named individuals who have reserved them in advance.”
