Napster UK launched early
Andy by Andrew Farley May 21st, 2004
Napster has lauched in the UK, 2 months earlier than was widely expected.

The news was announced at a press conference in London. The new Napster site allows users to download a new version of its software, Napster 2.0, and have their first seven days completely free. The service boasts 500,000 tracks at the normal price of 99p per song or albums from £9.95. There are also advert-free radio stations that the user can tune into.

Sadly, the software doesn't seem to work on Windows 98, so that eliminates a fair proportion of today's web-surfers in the UK, but if you're lucky enough to have 2000/XP, then visit napster.co.uk to check out the service.

DiScuss: What does this mean to the UK music industry? Will you be testing out the new Napster? Will you ever stop buying hard copies of music?
