Based in Manchester, this little offering from Giant Killers appears pretty eclectic on the surface within the confines of the rock/indie genre. Opening with 'Maybe In Another Life', a pleasant track, basically summery anthemic unaffected by the attitude bollocks usually tagging along for the ride. Contrasted to the far more "rawk" 'Intil Your Dead', which has its moments (a lovely breakdown where the rhythms of various parts don't seem to fit whilst maintaining pace).
However this track demonstrates Giant Killers problem suitably. A moment of pure, unadulterated genius is quashed by another lesser element of the track. In the case of 'Intil Your Dead' the aforementioned breakdown is followed by a standard, cheesy guitar solo.
All is not lost. 'You Can Always End It' stands out with its story of lost love, sauntering pace and infectious melody(also showing Matt's voice at it's best - think Sting sung in a soulful Buckley stylee).
If commercial rock/indie is your thing, Giant Killers have the potential to give you a good clip round the ear leaving a moment of hope in your life, because this is safe but ulitmately very listenable.
