It's dark and it's paranoid and it wouldn't be surprising at all if this song was conceived after the band had been reading '1984' then had been chased by a GIANT BALL THING along the beach in Port Meirion.'Mirrors and Cameras' is their second single and for all my complaints about their first, and even tho' this still ain't their best song, should be more of an indication of where this band's 'at'. Basically, it is a big, intense rock BEAST in a Mansun-esque way. Rah! Not only that, it has quiet bits and veryveryloud bits that make for so many GRATE rock tunes (ergo, Pixies comparisons), and the veryveryloud bits are aided by Alan MacDonald's screeching cello. Cellos rock, and so do (X) Is Greater Than (Y).
