Perhaps it wasn't such a good idea to do that car ad. Seeing as how it's all anyone associates him with - a Lexus and a cute "nu-classical" ditty.
If you've heard the album, you may know that yeah, he's not the prodigy he's been made out to be - but neither is he the sellout kid who gave it all away before he even started. Martin Grech has talent, and this single shows it. While his previous two singles showcased his off-the-wall tendencies, with the manic guitar excursion that was "Dali" and then the 'that song' syndrome of "Open Heart Zoo", this one shows that it's not all he can do. One of the more natural songs on his debut album, "Push" leaves the prog riffing and the supersonic vocals on the shelf and concentrates on a subtle, lilting melody and an innate sense of hard-done-by resignation, and the result is elegant and touching. It's early days but whether he wants to channel his music in one direction or retain his schizophrenic quality, this single proves Grech has the talent to compete on any level.
