“Isn’t it good to be alive?” Damn right it is. Get your Judas Priest-style hand gestures at the ready and prepare to sway them aloft in a suitably demonic gesture. ‘Your Demon Heart’ will take control of your erm... demon heart, I guess... and cause you involuntarily to say things like ‘rock on’ (and other phrases that only sound marginally less ridiculous when Tommy Vance says them).
The screaming wall of feedback is underpinned by a driving rhythm, which is very probably best not listened to whist actually driving, for fear of some uncontrollable desire to demolish every pedestrian and bouncing bollard in your path. Great b-sides too. Dublin’s Ten Speed Racer swing from sounding like Satan on ‘Your Demon Heart’, to some utterly huggable college-rockers with a glockenspiel fixation on ‘Save Yourself’, to ever so placid pastoral acoustic types on ‘Lovers at Ten Paces’. No one-trick-ponies then.
