Ricky Wilson loves... Radio
Ricky Wilson loves... Radio
Kaiser_Chiefs_Week by Kaiser Chiefs October 21st, 2008
Yesterday we heard about Peanut's love of Photography, today Ricky explains why he loves the radio...

---

I really like listening to the radio. I like the fact that mostly, it is actually live. The person doing the talking and playing the records is actually doing it right now. Nowadays, most TV is recorded, and now you can even watch it whenever on the web or Sky plus it, whereas the radio is pretty much happening right now.

I like it when I’m in my car, and someone at the lights has the same song on. I like it when people text and phone in to give us pointless information about what they are doing that day. (Why do they do that?) I like it when a song comes on and it’s shit, and wonder if everyone else listening thinks it’s shit too.

I like being on the radio too. You don’t have to wear the right clothes or comb your hair. When you go on TV, it’s mainly all about hanging around, being bothered by assistants in head-sets holding clipboards and telling you it will be another 15 minutes of eating crisps. On Radio, you just go on, say what you want, and fuck off.

Finally I also like them as things. From my first bright yellow and blue one from Boots, to my current favourite Roberts one via the one that blew up in my car, I’ve always had them around. Even now I can get it on the telly and the computer I still prefer tuning in on an actual radio.
