Friday Feeling: Phoning It In
Friday Feeling: Phoning It In
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater November 21st, 2008

Of course, we all know about the world wide web and its consequences for music. Back when the information superhighway was only on for two hours a day, kids would've found it hard to get so much as 30 seconds of the latest George Formby record, desperate times indeed.

But, since the invention of the telephone, things have been made much, much, much simpler. Phoning It In harnesses the full power of the telephone by allowing bands/artists to play a sort of "live radio session", but with the added bonus of them not having to leave their homes.

Phoning It In is broadcast as a radio show, too, if you happen to be in America and feel like listening. It airs on BSR in Providence, RI, and is also broadcast on the interweb at WMBR.

But what about the sound quality I hear you cry! Well, it's crap, but that's not really the point. Revel in the lo-fi glory of the Phoning It In and listen to some people you've never heard of, and many you have. Diane Cluck phones it in with a lot of dead air and Casiotone For The Painfully Alone's session is, aptly, even better than Answering Machine Music.

There's 346 of the buggers, so you'd best use that search function wiseley, there's plenty on offer.

This'll be an absolute treat for all you people who love the warm and charming sound of vinyl.
