Psychedelic Danes Oh No Ono have had a fine year so far, winning hearts and minds and generally giving the Archie Bronson a run for their money in the foodstuff-related album name stages with their marvellous Eggs. BUT CAN THEY SURVIVE A REALLY COLD NORWEGIAN FESTIVAL? Yes. Yes they can. And here is their story.

Day 1

Norway is cold. Really cold. Every time I go outside all I can think about is getting back inside. We've been on the road for a few days now visiting Helsinki and Stockholm and Oslo is by far the coldest of the three. Nevertheless it also seems to be the most fun. We know a lot of people from back home who are up here playing too and since all the venues are really close to each other we keep on bumping in to familiar faces. A lot of catching up and a really warm and friendly atmosphere.

It's our first time at this festival so we don't really know what to expect. We're happily surprised by the venue which is really nice. The room is an old assembly where union meetings used to take place. It's all covered in wood which makes for some very warm and gentle acoustics. Soundcheck is a little rushed due to some delays from the backline company, but we manage to get everything sorted in time and feel pretty confident about it.

The show is great. The energy on stage and in the audience is amazing. Probably the best gig on our tour so far. All smiling face. We end up getting drunk with our fellow Danes feeling like kings and using all our money on ridiculously expensive beer. Norway may be the richest nation on the planet, but they're certainly paying for it.

Day 2

Someone must've felt the same way I did about the show. I'm woken by an overly enthusiastic manager telling me we're on the cover of the festival newspaper. Cool.

I've got major hangovers but this makes me feel better already. Feeling very lucky that we don't have to drive anywhere today. After four days of driving through the snow it feels really nice to walk out of a pleasant hotel at noon going for coffee with an equally content tour manager.

We're playing the main stage tonight so the newspaper buzz couldn't have come at a more convenient time. Hopefully a lot of people will show up. We're determined to do our best and show them a good time.

Once again the venue turns out to be great. If possible even more breath talking than the last one. Yesterday sound check was a bit hectic but today everything seems to be going smoothly. Also due to the fact that everyone has slept like babies at our fancy festival paid luxury hotel. Thank you by: Larm. Ole, our sound engineer proudly announces that this will be the best Sound he has ever made for us. Great expectations..

The place is pretty much packed when the show starts. We're enjoying ourselves very much and people are cheering and dancing. tomorrow we're heading back home for a few days, but right now we're just overwhelmed by the enthusiasm we've experienced during the last two days in this frosty city.
