Johnny Borrell and Finlay Quaye: The Voice of Slavery, apparently
TheBoyDeadly by TheBoyDeadly March 15th, 2007

That Borrell, he's a boy in'e? Well Johnny has really stuck his neck out this time to say slavery, right, is well bad.

Razorlight, Supergrass, Finlay Quaye, Ed Harcourt and Nerina Pallot are some of the acts confirmed for an event scheduled for Sunday March 25th called The Voice of Slavery.

Held at the Kentish Town Forum, the show aims to raise money for prominent charities like Stop The Trafik and Anti-Slavery. Tickets cost £25 and will also give you access to live sets from Babyshambles' Drew McConnell, The Vitamins, Blondelle, Emmanuel Jal, Tawaiah, Johnny Berliner, A Poem Between People and The Congo Faith Healers. Samantha Morton, Rhys Ifans and Sadie Frost host.

In retrospect, this is obviously a worthy cause and the names of all the above, as well as the organisers, should be commended. It's just hard for me to imagine that this will make any discernible difference, beyond the limited pool of cash from ticket sales.

In a time when bands are regarded as opinion-formers, surely this agenda has already been set - are there still people who actually approve of slavery? World governments, slave-traders hark! Finlay Quaye thinks you need to fix up.

But yeah, good cause. Here are some links:
