The Kaiser Chiefs have decided not to release a 45-minute improv album based on Will Ferrell’s character in Anchorman because it’s “awful”, according to frontman Ricky Wilson.
The Cheeky Northern Tykes were quoted earlier this year saying they had recorded several new tracks with an engineer which they hoped to release by the end of the year, but in a new interview Ricky Wilson has dismissed the idea, on account of the songs being quite shit actually.
Wilson said: "One night we were left in the studio with just our sound engineer. We had this idea to record an album for 45 minutes off the top of our heads. We just made it up as we went along.
"We called it Bad because it's so awful. We took our inspiration from Will Ferrell's character in Anchorman who just says what he sees. I haven't listened to it since we recorded it. I'd like to, but I know I'd cringe because it's really bad and unfunny.
"It was a laugh to start with and then Simon went and said we wanted to release it. We did in a way, but just as a joke."
First it was Smile, then The Black Album, now it’s this… Bloody typical.
