Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox has teamed up again with guitarist Lockett Pundt to record a cover of Liars' 'Pure UnEvil'.
The recording appeared on the Deerhunter 'blog this morning and is tagged with the moniker of the duo's Atlas Sound side-project.
The Cox-Pundt version is blurrier than the original; swapping rattling guitar for midi and undulating out in soft ripples as Cox swoons somewhere in the mid-distance. I like it, you will too.
Cox talks; about this and Atlas Sound's covers record:
"The covers project is taking longer than expected because we are lazy. Here is a special cover to tide you over. I say it is special because it is possibly my favorite song of all time, and was written by one of my favorite people, Aaron.
"He wrote it for his wife. I hope I did it justice because this song is very very very very up there. I have so much respect for Liars its scary."

In other news, various members of DiS saw Liars being the highlight of a hit n' miss Field Day on Saturday afternoon. If we shouted in your ear, we apologise.
Expect some words from Field Day promoter Tom Baker on the weekend's problems at some point today.
