The Strokes have a cover band! And they've called themselves The Diff'rent Strokes (just like we knew they would)
On the 3rd day of December, 2001, an EP cited as "Without doubt the greatest ever tribute record ever made" will emerge. Casio led interpretations of 4 of the finest tracks from the original album will be released. The Track listing is as follows:
- Last Nite
- Hard to Explain
- Modern Age
- Is This It?
It is being released through Guided Missile and is quite predictively titled "This Isn't It". Guided Missile are keeping the identity of the band a closely guarded secret, but they let us know that The Diff'rent Strokes feature "..members of some very cool bands" and it's rumoured that members of Pulp and The Strokes themselves are behind this project.
The front and back covers of the release will be a recreation of the original using toys, tho one wonders what "toy" could be deemed sexy enough to replace That cover. It will be available on 7" vinyl and CD for the princely sum of £1.79.
