Nine Inch Nails' big man Trent Reznor has announced his intention to split up the band.
The current line-up - which aside from Reznor includes Josh Freese, Aaron North, Jeordie White and Alessandro Cortini - will be done away with, and replaced with something thinner.
"At this point," meditated Reznor, "I want to switch things around a bit. I see other ways I can present Nine Inch Nails' material in concert. Something more challenging, something new. I don't want it to go stale."
Good man. The band looked to have played their last gig as a five-piece - completing an autumn world tour, inclusive of several well-received UK shows, at Honolulu in September.
Reznor continued:
"The idea of five guys making music for two hours, while it's the culmination of fine-tuning over a lot of years, has got to change. I want to whittle things down."
What price Aaron again for Icarus Line? Is it funny that he's been cut from NIN for reasons similar to those cited for his departure from the 'Line? I'm not sure...
