A source has told DiS that rumours of Razorlight's impending demise are much exaggerated.
Reports yesterday in the press claimed that Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell's recent live appearance with Lily Allen and another "unidentified" woman was a sign that the band would soon go their separate ways; with a Tabloid 'insider' profferring the opinion that: “It’s been on the cards for a while because no one can stand working with him."
“The band are on the brink of splitting up – everybody just wants to move on now.”
Not true, says our well-placed source; who also identifies the mystery woman as Florence and the Machine's Florence Welch:
"Johnny was well up for this and came down to play an acoustic set with some friends of his - Florence and the Machine - who are releasing an album soon - they played Johnny Cash covers, some new tracks, 'Hotel Yorba, 'To Be a Pilgrim' but no Razorlight stuff.
"Lily Allen was there but she only came down with her friend Miquita Oliver from T4 to watch Johnny and, I hope, case the joint as she showed interest in playing one of the nights soon. She didn't get on stage to sing harmonies as The Sun and Jo Wiley on Radio have suggested but had a sing along from the crowd."
How much credit you give our 'well-placed source' as opposed to the Sun's insider is up to you, of course. But we'd advise that sadly, for now, the suggestion is of one mess cleared up.
