Ginger doesn't stop never stopping
misterben by Mr Ben November 23rd, 2001

Almost immediately after the close of the Silver Ginger 5 tour, Ginger has announced yet more solo activity.

His website reports that the musical workaholic will be performing some solo shows with SG5's Jon Poole and The Wildhearts' Stidi. In Ginger's own words, the shows will feature "songs from the Singles Club releases, tracks that The Wildhearts never did live, and other odds and ends - basically all the stuff that people have wanted to hear played live, but which I've never been able to 'fit in' to any band that I've been touring with."

The only date announced so far is Wednesday 19th December at the Garage in Highbury, London, but more are expected to follow.

The website also brings news of the next few follow-ups to Ginger's solo single, 'I'm A Lover Not A Fighter'. Fans have been disappointed after a promise of one single a month for a year were not realised, but with next single 'Cars & Vaginas' expected imminently, Ginger's label Infernal have released details of the two releases after that. Single number three will be 'This Time I'm Serious', with b-sides 'Re-inventing The Wheel' (aired live back in 1998 at Ginger's first solo show, but never heard of since) and 'Blinded By Absinthe', and the fourth single will feature 'The Saga of Me & You', backed by 'Naked Innocence' and 'A Better Man'. The implication seems to be that the next three singles, at least, will be released before the end of the year, although no dates have been set - perhaps wisely, considering the repeated disappointment with single no. 2.

Meanwhile, Silver Ginger 5's album, 'Black Leather Mojo', was released in the UK on Monday 5th November, complete with a bonus CD featuring live and acoustic material, as well as three brand new studio tracks, which the band also aired on its recent tour.
