So yeah, by now you’ve probably noticed that ‘Drownloads’ button that’s sat silently at the top of the page for the last six weeks. What does it do? Where does it lead? How did we come up with such an awful pun?
Hang tight, now all is revealed: DrownedinSound.com has been sworn in with the heroic team at RCRDLBL.com to launch a new audio and video ‘blog. We join ranks with the likes of tune houses Kompakt, Warp, Downtown and Modular to bring together the label and the mp3 ‘blog and forge them into a brave new world of fine, free music. Other cohorts at RCRDLBL.com include the Ghostly, Dim Mak and dirtybird imprints.
We’re pretty excited to launch today with two exclusive remixes of Simian Mobile Disco’s club-levelling future classic ‘Hustler’. We’ve got vivid re-imaginings of the track from retro-electric Dane Skatebard and the imperiously playful Emperor Machine. Available to download and stream respectively, the original is also released today through Wichita Recordings, on CD and two editions of 12”.
Over the coming months, we’ll be upping our input at RCRDLBL.com, looking to provide a well-cut selection of sound to your ears five days a week – expect acts of the year, DiS Recordings fare, live show tie-ins, tips for 2008. We’ll also be looking to integrate the ‘blog with our site more directly, through that still silent ‘Drownloads’ button. The pun? No-one's rushing to carry the can for that…
