More news on the new Breeders album – following reports yesterday on the early details of the new record, label 4AD have expanded; naming album, tracks, release date.

Mountain Battles, the fourth record since the band formed in 1988, will come out on the 7th of April 2008. It was produced variously by Steve Albini, Erika Larsson, Manny Nieto and Ben Mumphrey.

Talking about the record, 4AD said Mountain Battles was “an album which captures all the bittersweet electricity of classic Breeders records like Pod and Last Splash, and which breaks new ground at the same time; classic sounding, yet as relevant and exciting as ever.”

Tour plans for next year are being finalised.
