The Kills talk to DiS about new record
TheBoyDeadly by TheBoyDeadly December 21st, 2007

So, details of Midnight Boom, the new record from the Kills, emerged earlier this week. We’ve been on the email quick to chat with the band about it. Wanna? Read on…

Sean Adams: if you could summarise your new album as a collection of scenes from movies, which ones would it be?
The black horses in the desert in El Topo, drummer boy drumming in Tin Drum, the kids riding go-carts outside the house in Benjamin Smoke by Jem Cohen, Gena Rowlands throwing a fit in Women in Revolt by Cassavettes, the bright colours in Rize by Chappelle.

The music world/industry has changed a lot since your last album came out but you've always been a band about artifacts and myth, have you any plans to release this record in any different ways? Is the physical record still much more important to you?
The physical record is still important to us. It's an artifact right? I hope we can always release on vinyl... It's something you can touch... and I think that's vital. Aside from releasing on vinyl and CD and as downloads... well, I'm not sure. We'd like to put out other things aside from music. We're currently working on a book of photographs with Kenneth Cappello. He's taken photos of us for the last four years.... 1000's and 1000's, so we're looking forward to publishing that.

I saw on MySpace that you're currently working on the artwork for the album, what can people expect?
Something fantastic. We're still working on it...

Midnight Boom will be released in the UK on the 18th of March.
