Now that Radiohead have gone to number one in the real world seems they don’t need their army of virtual minions any more. Maybe. Anyway, Thom Yorke has slagged off the internet in an interview with the Independent.
Talking on premises like MySpace and the, admittedly hyper-lame, Second Life, Yorke fended off accusations that the initial release method for In Rainbows found him in league with nerds, insisting that: “I don't want that. It lays bare the isolation of many internet users, who've got too much time on their hands. OMG! Sad.
"I prefer expressing myself in the real world, lol.
“Huuuurrrr.”
In other news, the band will appear on the 200th episode of Later… with Jools Holland; beaming out on BBC2 sometime in February along with Cat Power, Feist, Dionne Warwick. You can also read about Radiohead’s ascension to the top of the pop charts here.
