Brilliant Baltimore noise/tropical/something act Ecstatic Sunshine have lost the input of founding member Dustin Wong after recently expanding to a quartet.
The guitarist has left, why or to do what we’re not quite sure, but the split is apparently amicable, revealed in a MySpace ‘blog post that reads thus:
Dear everybody,
i would like to say me being with ecstatic sunshine has been such an amazing learning experience.
the people we've met, the places we've been to have put marks in my brain that'll be there till i die. being in this band i really saw myself as a human and a person and i really want to thank this band for that. thank you so much for all the good times and also for the bad ones too, they are all there for a reason. i wish ecstatic sunshine all the best and hope their musical endeavors keep going in a positive and progressive way.
Sincerely,
dustin c.h. wong
The newly-trimmed three-piece, comprised of Kieran Gillen, Matthew Papich and David Zimmerman and currently on tour with the equally/differently excellent White Williams in the US, will release a full-length LP called Way in April; through Cardboard Records.
Copies are still available of recent EP Living; a review of which you can find here, the band's MySpace here.
