Shred Yr Face Day 6: The Frontline report.
GarethD by Gareth Dobson October 21st, 2008

The thing about London gigs, is that for the band, they’re fucking awesome things where you play (in theory) your best show to your biggest crowd, and then you go to a massive aftershow thing and get totally wasted and your record company, agent, manager, promoter, radio, press, online etc etc all slap you and themselves on the back because frankly, everyone’s awesome. It’s a great thing. And that is how it should be, really.

For us poor crew, however, it’s a bit more stressful: there’s more to do, seemingly less organisation and definitely more annoying cunts hanging about. The bonus though, is that when all is pulled off without too many hitches, we too slap ourselves on the back and then go get massively wasted. Well, I’ll be honest and admit that I didn’t, sloping off home shortly after packing up the merch table, making sure that Gareth LC! had the video camera to record cool things, and a cursory wave to everyone else..

Possibly I missed a whole lotta fun; everyone looked still pretty much wasted this morning as we all met at the bus underneath the Tescos car park in Earls Court (star spotters, this is where pretty much every tour bus in London ends up). In fact, Tom our wonderful Front of House man admitted he was still drunk, and pointed towards our backline guy throwing up in the corner of the car park. Dan the tour manager (AKA God, Dad or whatever else you want to call him) has only just gone to bed at time of writing – 3pm en route to Bristol – and the bands need no discussing. Also, I missed an amazing second show by No Age too, which kinda sucks and a lot of fun and booze. However, I Feel great today; energised, happy and high spirited. Everyone else is eating half of the fruit and bakery isles from Tesco in an attempt to right themselves for tonight’s show and gently shaking their heads.

The show? Well, from where I was standing, it looked and sounded good. The vast stage suiting Los Campesinos rather well, No Age enjoying the extended stage time they were given, and Times New Viking offering up more perfect pop hidden behind a wall of noise. But, to be honest, I couldn’t offer you a definite version; I was tucked away in the corner frantically stripping No Age tshirts off the pile and thrusting them in the hands of eager punter. We have in fact declared the Rainbow style tshirt ‘The Classic’ due to it’s well, classic nature. In fact boys and girls, anyone coming to Bristol or Manchester, who buys a ‘classic’ and asks for it by said name, will receive a free gift from me. Or more to the point, No Age..

Fortunaely, though, thanks to Gareth and Neil LC! we have a bunch of new video content to feast your eyes on; Henry Lovvers interviewing Adam TNV, Gareth singing with TNV, and footage from No Age’s aftershow show. SUWEEET..

Oh, and a note to the fucking dickwad who swiped a tshirt off my table: if I ever see you again (and yes I remember your shitty little face), I will come and I WILL FUCK YOU UP REALLY BADLY, YOU ARROGANT, THEIVING LITTLE PRICK. GO FUCK YOURSELF, YOU HORRENDOUS LITTLE CUNT.

Peace be with you, my friends.
