Listen: Japanese Popstars remix of Gorillaz 'On Melancholy Hill'
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater June 10th, 2010

Damon Albarn-led supergroup Gorillaz recently released 'On Melancholy Hill' as the second single from their fantastic third album Plastic Beach. It was due to be 'Superfast Jellyfish' but now it's not. So get over it already.

What we've got for you here is an exclusive stream of a remix by Derry's own Japanese Popstars of the track. It's mega. It's mega-long. Nearly nine minutes in total. As you'd expect with a cut of this length it takes its time building up the intensity (though not without a bit of oopmh beforehand) then releasing the payoff of the vocal line. Just listen to it yourself, really. Do so below:

Though the single has already been released, there's a video on the way, too, making it slightly strange in terms of convention of order of release. Still. There is a video teaser, however. Which is something. Watch it below or visit Gorillaz's website.

The band were recently confirmed to replace Bono and U2 at Glastonbury, as well as setting out these tour dates in September:

September:
10 - Birmingham, N.I.A
11 - Newcastle, Metro Arena
12 - Manchester, MEN Arena
14 - London, O2 Arena
15 - London, O2 Arena
