The Cribs, The Drums and more help out on new Edwyn Collins album
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater June 14th, 2010

I'm sure we're all familiar with the backstory of former Orange Juice frontman Edwyn Collins by now. In some ways it is as heartening as it is sad. After suffering a brain haemorrhage in 2005 he has been gradually treading the road to recovery and performing again, which he now is. It's massively pleasing that he's back on stage once more, I'm sure everybody will agree and even more pleasing that there's new material on the way.

His last solo album was recorded before he suffered a brain haemorrhage, but the release of his new record has just been announced and it is what could commonly be known as "star-studded". Ryan Jarman of The Cribs co-wrote 'What Is My Role', Franz Ferdinand's Nick McCarthy and Alex Kapranos helped out with 'Do It Again' whilst The Drums did likewise for 'In Your Eyes' and Johnny Marr similar for 'Come Tomorrow, Come Today' (via NME.com).

Tracklisting below:

  1. Losing Sleep
  2. What Is My Role?
  3. Do It Again
  4. Humble
  5. Bored
  6. In Your Eyes
  7. I Still Believe In You
  8. Come Tomorrow, Come Today
  9. It Dawns On Me
  10. Over The Hill
  11. All My Days
  12. Searching For The Truth

It comes out on September 13, after being recorded over the past two or so years at his own West Heath Studios. Production work comes from Collins himself and Sebastian Lewsley. He's also just announced three live dates in the next month or so including an appearance at Edinburgh Book Festival, one at End Of The Road and a solo show on September 23 at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall.
