Listen: When Saints Go Machine cover The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony' (DiS Premiere)
sean by Sean Adams March 27th, 2012

The makers of one of DiS' favourite albums of 2011, re-invent a classic... plus we have a competition to win tickets to see When Saints Go Machine live!

The towering Dane, Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild explains their decision to change and 'remould' this:

The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony' is one of the greatest pop songs written during the last thirty years and we shouldn't have messed with it, but we couldn't help it. I guess deconstructing perfect is the only right way to stay inspired for us. If this version of the song should play even once on the radio in the UK, please credit The Verve.

In case you've forgotten what the original sounds like, here you go:

Which ironically Ashcroft and co. sampled from Andrew Loog Oldham's re-working of The Rolling Stones 'The Last Time'.
