Must Hear: Liars remix of The Twilight Sad's 'Nil'
sean by Sean Adams September 13th, 2012

You might need a minute or so to get your head around this, as Liars have sent The Twilight Sad off on some deep-space mission with this incredible new remix. Plus we have news of the band's biggest show to date at the feckin' huge Glasgow Barrowlands!

Quite a lot of the time DiS gets emails about remixes and we're all like 'yeah, thanks for that, but we don't really know the original' or 'er, why has this band ruined a perfectly good tune?'. On occasions, we click the link, click play on the SoundCloud and click play again, and click play again, and click play again... and then send an email to the PR in size 48 font that simply says COR!!!! Moments later, we'll chillout a bit, and start writing and writing, scribbling a mini-thesis about the symbiotic relationship between the two acts, and how the hurt and pain of the original track makes the disco-throb pummelling along beneath it give the whole thing a totally different emotional weight, that makes the sadness far more uplifting. We'll then start trying to slip in references to other bands we like, such as Factory Floor and Fuck Buttons and various other bands and remixes that people should check out, just on the off chance that the person whose clicked through to hear this remix, might like some other things that we like too. You give a little, and you give a little more, and eventually they might start listening to all of your recommendations.

Anyway, this remix by the makers of one of our favourite albums of 2012 Liars, of Twilight Sad, who are also the makers of one of our favourite albums of 2012, is right here, right now, premiering on DiS, and we have a feeling people who read DiS, might like something like this sort of thing rather a lot:

Love it? Me too. Bash your mouse here to download it for free from their Facebook page.

Of the remix album No One Can Ever Know - The Remixes (out 5th November on FatCat) and this Liars re-jiggery, The Twilight Sad's Andy MacFarlane said:

"We like to put out something that bridges the gap between releases, that will continue the theme and artwork. After the new minimal, synth led approach we did with 'No One Can Ever Know', it seemed fitting to follow up with a remix album, to continue in that direction. We've been big fans of Liars since 'They Were Wrong, So We Drowned', so we were really happy when they agreed to do a remix for the record, it puts a whole new perspective on the song."
