Paul Huge was drafted into the group in 1994 as replacement for session hack Gilby Clarke, who replaced Izzy Stradlin. Paul Huge's appointment in 1994 was apparently largely based on a long standing friendship with reclusive, strange vocalist Axl Rose, not musical talent. As a result remaining original members Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum left the group in 1996, and Axl Rose purchased the Guns'N'Roses name from the other founder members for £2.4million in 1997.
Since the band's formation, Axl Rose has managed to work his way through four drummers, two bassists, ten guitarists, as well as several female backing vocalists, a horn section, several keyboardists, and a multitude of producers including Moby. The band have also been experimenting with basketball star Shaquille O'Neal who has apparently rapped some vocal tracks for the new material. In the meantime, long awaited album "Chinese Democracy" has been delayed several times, and has taken a total of eleven years and at least $10 million to make this far. Guns'N'Roses have performed live four times in the past nine years.
I'll believe they're playing Leeds when I see it with my own eyes. Don't hold your breath.
