Alec Empire's 2nd single 'The Ride' is released this week with a video by director Jonathan Miles hitting the music TV channels now. Out over 2 CDs and one ltd 12" it will be followed by a long awaited live DVD release.
The extra tracks across the formats include the original (great) seven and half minute version of 'The Ride' which was edited down for the album, a 'radical new' club mix of 'The Ride' and an eight minute 'part 2' of the last single 'Addicted To You' called 'Perish to the Beat of the Dead' that didn’t make it to the 'Intelligence And Sacrifice' album. Two more tracks are taken from from the ultra rare Alec Empire early release 'Miss Black America' album, 'DF02' and 'It Should Have Been You - Not Me' and finally a hardcore live version of 'Death Favours the Enemy' completing the line up.
The DVD, entitled 'Death Favours the Enemy' of Alec Empire Live during the Spring European tour has been put back to late October/early November owing to manufacturing problems. Orders made via the DHR Online Store will be shipped as soon as they receive finished copies over the next few weeks. DHR say: "The DVD cost cost will be kept down to a minimum so it’s not going to be full of tricks – just a straight section of the show. We had some comments that this is the sort of thing that major labels give away for free. We are an independent company and just can’t afford shit like that. After the release date you can get it for about £6.00 / $10.00 plus shipping which is as good as it gets."
The live tracks are:
'Addicted To You'
'Death Favors The Enemy"
'Intelligence and Sacrifice'
'New World Order'
'Addicted To You' (single video version)
Camera men were posted everywhere, from balcony to moshpit to catch all the stage diving action, and with the John Hillcoat directed video for 'Addicted To You' The DVD is a full 30 minutes long, for £6, it's a bargin.
