Rock duos are not a novel thing but the popularity of The White Stripes has drawn a lot of attention to them lately and there are (so he says) "concerns amongst the musical duo community" that Jack and Meg are not, you know, representing.
"Honestly, I've never heard their records, but I have seen them live.... The Stripes are a good band, I'm not challenging that... It's just that Mojo magazine declared them "the Greatest Live Band In The World" on the cover of a recent issue, and I want a chance to prove that statement false."
When asked if simply trying to siphon, leach or otherwise suck off the hype around The White Stripes for his own band, Dave Doughman replied "Abso-fuckin-lutely! Fans have told me that The Motorists would blow The White Stripes off the stage and after seeing them perform, I agree. Now I want a chance to prove it, that's all"
