Glastonbury: The Play
kdornan by Kate Dornan November 11th, 2002
That's right, you heard.

'Glastonbury' by Zoe Lewis is the tale of seven "very different" festival-goers (from an unemployed builder to the - um - starlets and models you'll all have spotted avidly embracing the midfield sludge all around you this summer). It veritably shimmers and glitters with the kind of "edgy" names certain to churn out newsprint: directed by Keith Allen, designed by Damien Hirst (with a revolving stage under canvas), followed by cameo performances from the likes of New Order, Electric Soft Parade, Bentley Rhythm Ace, UB40, (DJ) Bez and - for that authentic festival atmosphere! - The Levellers.

And there's a bleak, dramatic climax.

Odds on for 'Sorted for E's and Wizz' blasting from every speaker after every performance, then...

"Glastonbury" has so far been performed in Cardiff and Birmingham, and appears at Brighton Race Course from 6th-16th November. Tickets are £15/£10 concs from www.wayahead.com. The play will subsequently go to London.
