Plans for Vines' second album
rpearce by Rebeckah Pearce November 25th, 2002
Fans who enjoyed The Vines’ debut album, ‘Highly Evolved’ may not have long to wait for the second album to make an appearance.

The Vines’ bassist, Patrick Matthews, says the follow up might well be out early next year and hopes to make it a “mid-fi” record.

The band are currently touring North America with The Music and have been playing some new songs including: ‘Evil Town’, ‘Fuck The World’ and ‘Amnesia’. Matthews wants to get the new songs laid down in the studio as soon as they get a well deserved break. Speaking of the LP, Matthews said: “Everybody talks about the really hi-fi, but I want to do it mid-fi. There are those things about recording in a non hi-fi manner that is cool and energetic that I want to capture. Just something exciting and visceral."

After a hectic year of touring The Vines will see in 2003 by playing the Big Day Out festival in Australia and New Zealand and are expected to begin work on the new album soon afterwards.
