Truth Hurts had a worldwide hit with 'Addictive' which kickstarted a recent sampling trend of Indian music within hip-hop.
But, in September 2002, Truth Hurts, Universal Records and producer DJ Quik were all named in a $500 million copyright lawsuit. Indian composer Bappi Lahiri accused them of 'cultural imperialism' in sampling without consent his song 'Thoda Resham Lagta Hai'.
Details are sketchy, but could it be that $500 million was to big a cost to cover for a debut LP?
The case continues, but without the helping hand of Dre, Truth isn't expected to be heard of again.
