Middlesbrough Free Festival: Biffy, Darkness. Jnr Snr, Colour of Fire, Les Flames +more!
sean by Sean Adams May 15th, 2003
Since when was Middlesbrough rock capital of the universe?

For 10hours at least, on Monday 26th May, from 12pm - 10pm , Middlesbrough IS the rock capital of the universe! That is the day the "MIDDLESBROUGH MUSIC LIVE 2003" hits the city with eight stages spread all across the town centre. And blimey, entry is FREE!

Here's what they've got going on on the three DiS-flavoured stages...

96.6TFM MAIN STAGE
Daddys of brit-zep-pop REEF headline.
Sh-sh-shake ya feet to pop kings of 2003 JUNIOR SENIOR.
Str-str-strike a rock pose to THE DARKNESS (are they playing every festival this year??)
Scouse Oasis touring partners and diy clubnight runners THE BANDITS.
Plus: STATESIDE HOMBRES, THE SELECTER, THE VAULTS and MANKATO.

TOWN HALL CRYPT STAGE
Boy/girl indie pop catz EASYWORLD headline!
DiS-faves BIFFY CLYRO play tracks from their new album 'The Vertigo of Bliss'.
Another THE band but this lot are pretty good THE SUN.
One for the hardcore crew INSTRUCTION.
Fresh from their DiS tour, big 8minute rock anthems from OCEANSIZE.
Best unsigned band of 2002? Probably. York's antidote to replica rock, big-haired punkers COLOUR OF FIRE
Plus: BUZZKILL, LES FLAMES! and EXIT BY NAME.

EMPIRE STAGE
Warbly-voiced indie-throwbacks PURESSENCE
The Seahorses' Chris Helme's new band THE YARDS
Plus: THE DELAYS, KEANE, AIDEN SMITH, IT'S JO AND DANNY, SAINT ROSE and TRANS-FUSION.

Plus they have the perfect post-Darkness movie showing in the evening: This is.. SPINAL TAP!
