After 14 years serving London’s music and ice-hockey community, the London Arena in Docklands' Crossharbour will close its doors ready to be turned into riverside ‘affordable’ accommodation.
In recent years, it has played host to many world-changing acts, including Queen Adreena, Hundred Reasons, and Linkin Park. More recently, Paul McCartney hired it out for two weeks to rehearse for his enormodome tour.
With luck, bands will be encouraged to play several smaller dates at Brixton with the lack of any central based arenas. Phrases used to describe the London Arena used to include, ‘a large soulless warehouse with the rock sensibilities of a dead lettuce' and 'shit'.
