John Lydon's been spitting about how much he'd love to play a show, with the now reformed Sex Pistols, in Baghdad early next year. The aim is to show the Iraqis the "downside" of democracy.
"I am definite about it. The red tape is lining up thick and fast, and the more they put up, the bigger the scissors... If you are going to offer these people democracy, then offer it to them in their fullest extreme so they fully know what they're walking into, because democracy has a few problems, mate, and the Sex Pistols know that, but at least we can shout out about it, and that might be of some use to them," said Lydon.
The Pistols are currently preparing for a US tour in August and September.
In vaguely related news Sniffin' Glue have released a new punk compilation, out today and have a launch party this Wednesday @ Notting Hill Arts Club / Death Disco. More details here.
DiScuss: Is Lydon the Lord of the soundbite? Is this just a punk statement (stunt) to create a spectacle to sell tickets for the US tour?
