T in the Park: Fancy a Gig, Pal? T Break 2004 Launches
shadyadie by [redacted] February 20th, 2004
In a band in Scotland? Want to play at T in the Park festival this year?

If you fancy it, then enter T Break competition, win it, and discover your set is due to clash with The Pixies. Well, that's just tough titties for you.

Anyway, T Break 2004 is go! The organisers want to hear from "talented new bands, gifted singer/songwriters, budding music journalists and keen music journalists."

We're not sure what the difference is between a "budding" journalist and a "keen" journalist. Perhaps they meant to say "photographer".

Less Bullshit and More Important Details

Firstly, your band has to be unsigned; so piss off, Idlewild!

Download an entry form from redt.co.uk/tbreak, then bung it off (after you've filled it in. Duh) with your demo, or live reviews, or photography, before March 22nd to T Break 2004, Tennent Caledonian Breweries, 161 Duke Street, Glasgow, G31 5JD.

The live showcases will take place at King Tut's in Glasgow and the Liquid Room in Edinburgh, from May 6-13th.

If you're entering the journalism or photography competition, you'll find your work judged by the Sunday Herald. You'll get to cover the T Break stage and have your stuff printed in the newspaper (side-note: DiS found this an easy blag to swipe booze from the press tent backstage. Bonus.)

T Break was set up in 1996 to give 'unsigned' bands the chance to play at the festival. Some A&R people might even turn up. :-o Please note, however, you will not be playing on the stage pictured.

12 bands will be picked from the heats, with the rest of the lineup hand-picked by DF Concerts. A hazy-eyed DiS remembers seeing Polar Bear/Snow Patrol back in 1997. Happy happy happy days.

It used to be called the PRS tent. It is now the T Break tent. The T Break tent now has a "floor", a "bar" and "its own artists area".

Right, I'm done now.
